Spares and Pairs

This class is taught mainly by Betty Jo Forkner.  It is open to all ages, and right now is ranges in age from 45-83.  This class works from a study series called ABS/Adult Bible Studies which is an in depth study that covers  in a year's time lessons from both Old and New Testament.  We read scripture, use power point and use discussion questions pertaining to scripture's meaning for today and for us. We are also Prayer Warriors.   If you would like to learn more or be a part of this class you may call Betty Jo Forkner at 615-597-6878 or Sherry Bush at 615-597-5048.  We are seeking a closer walk with God, supporting each other and  caring for those with needs and striving to share God's love with everyone.

Searchers

This group calls themselves the "Over the HIll Gang", even though there is a few younger members wo adore the class. This class is slowly working there way though the Bible a chapter at a time. Individually each member reads the next chapter of study previous to Sunday morning and then they discuss the passage together. The discussion format of the class allows for the members from  the class to learn from each other's findings and see how the same text will speak differently to different individuals.  This is a very social group of people who love to fellowship outside of Sunday mornings... whether that be at a party or meeting up to help at the community food pantry. This class loves to give back to the community and even sponsors a child to go to the Methodist Pre-School every year. If you would love to drink coffee, learn, and fellowship with this group on Sunday mornings please contact Spencer Iverlette @ 597-7976 or Pat Tatum @ 596-1665.

Men's Class

Picture
This awesome group of men found there class on Christian values, family, and service. The men range in ages from 40-70 and have studied everything from the Ten Commandments to the 7 deadly sins. Typically they take a large topic such as these and break them down week by week. These men don't hold back when it comes to their discussions; this is very much a safe place to express all beliefs, struggles, and thoughts about BIblical text. This class is very involved in the community and helps with the community food pantry and other church events as much as they can. And as for visitors.. "We love and support every member of our class and church family - Come join us!" If you would like to know more abou this class please contact Richard Judkins @ 597-4213 or e-mail him at patnrich@dtccom.net

Friendship

Picture
This class, made up of older adults ages 60-85, studies the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book to better understand the letter that God has written to us. This class is different than many of our others because it is based primarily on a lecture teaching style rather than simply discussion. All the members of this class are very involved in the church community and many of them hold office in church groups. If you are interested in better understanding how God wants us to live our lives as well as walking beside a loving, caring, and involved group of older adults please contact Barry or Ginny Miller @ 931-761-7510, gbmiller@blomand.net or Gail Bishop  @ 215-7296.

Ecclesia

Picture
Ecclesia is an ancient term used to describe "a gathering of Christians."  The Ecclesia class has been meeting every Sunday morning in the Community Room of the Christian Fellowship Center (CFC) since it opened in 2001.

The class mulitgenerational (from college age to senior adults) providing diverse perspectives for sharing, studying listening and learning.  The class is also theologically diverse from conservative to progressive.  We recgonize and embrace this diversity and as a result we are able to discuss and debate with love and mutual respect.

The format of the class varies from instructional (lecture and/or audio visual) to pure discussion depending on the topics studied and resources in use.  The topic and rescources change frequently.  Over the course of a typical year we might focus on currents for a quarter, followed by an academic study of scripture for a quarter, then a discussion of a specific religious book, and finish the year with the teaching on church history or theology.

Ecclesia is a class follows UMC theme of "open hearts, open minds and open doors"

For more information about Ecclesia, please email johncain99@gmail.com.
